Our December box was filled with some Winter favourites. Novel = The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld
Why The Child Finder?
With beautiful Winter imagery and a poignant and captivating story of love, loss and family The Child Finder is different than other books we’ve read and while it has heavy and disturbing parts there is hope, magical realism and beautiful writing at its’center. The book focuses on the protagonist, Naomi, The Child Finder, and Madison Culver a young girl who disappeared when her family was choosing a Christmas tree in Oregon’s Skookum National Forest. While some aspects of the novel are difficult to read, it’s Rene Denfeld’s writing style that helps us deal with the most challenging parts. Set in Winter, it’s a suspenseful read and perfect to enjoy with a mug of hot chocolate on a cold Winter’s day.

Under One Sun – Heart Ornament – We chose these ornaments from a local store that supports artisans in around the globe because it reminded us that love comes in many forms over the holidays and every day.
