Books have been a part of our lives as long as we can remember. Our parents were avid readers and their love for books brought us to hours of reading in their laps, at school and everywhere we've lived, worked and travelled. 

Our idea for this book subscription box came first to me who pitched it to Mark as something we should collaborate on. First the excitement, then the questioning and finally the agreement to dive in and pursue this adventure.

It wasn't long into the process that we began to wonder, what did a teacher and an accountant know about building an online business? The answer is - lots and not enough! 

We researched, we read books, we asked friends and colleagues, we dreamt, we shed a few tears and we created Sweet Reads Box. 

Our goal was to create a subscription box that provided busy people with 'me time'. A chance to sit down, relax, and immerse themselves in a great book with a delicious beverage and decadent treat. We wanted to be different than other boxes we had seen and instead of a collection of products around a theme we wanted each item in the box to be carefully chosen to fit the novel we were featuring. 

The result is something we are proud of, something we are excited to ship every month and something we hope to continue to grow and build. Because in the end, everyone deserves the chance to experience what John Green remarked: "Great books help you understand, and they help you feel understood."
